Abstract
This thesis focuses on the field of sociolinguistics. Especially investigate of taboo word in song lyrics used by Wiz Khalifa in album "Kush & Orange Juice". This thesis aims to describe the types and motives of taboo words used by Wiz Khalifa’s song lyrics in Album “Kush and Orange Juice”. The methodology uses qualitative to complete this study. The data research is obtained taboo words in song lyrics used by Wiz Khalifa to describe the types and motives of taboo words used by Wiz Khalifa’s song lyrics in Album “Kush and Orange Juice”. The data of the research is utterances and the data source is song lyrics. The utterances become the data of this research because the researcher wanted to find the taboo words in song lyrics used by Wiz Khalifa in album Kush and Orange Juice and meaning the lyrics which contain about taboo words. While, song lyrics is primary and literary data in this research. The results showed 165 taboo words and the researcher found out that there were some types of Taboo words which used by Wiz Khalifa in album “Kush and Orange Juice”. They are cursing, profanity, obscenity, slang, insults and slurs, and scatology. Taboo of insults and slurs become the most kind of types taboo category found in the lyrics. While the motives of Wiz Khalifa in album “Kush and Orange Juice” used Taboo Words in song lyrics are to anger and/or frustration, joking, surprise, and sarcastic irony and insult. Taboo of sarcastic irony and insult become the most kind of motives taboo category found in the lyrics. Keywords: Sociolinguistics, Taboo words, Song lyrics
