ABSTRACT USING FILM STORY IN EFL WRITING CLASSROOM OF HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL OF EDUCATION Karina, Jean Inggrit. 2019. Using Film Story In EFL Writing Classroom Of High School Level Of Education. English Department, Faculty Language and Science, Wijaya Kusuma University. Advisor : Dra. Rida Wahyuningrum, M.Pd This study present the suggested steps to teach descriptive text writing by using film of high school level. Descriptive text writing is a kind of text which tries to describe an object analytically and systematically. Students are supposed to master four language skills at the same time; listening, speaking, reading and writing. One skill considered as a difficult task to teach is writing. Heaton (1988:135) states that “writing skills are more complex and difficult to teach, requiring mastery not only of grammatical and rhetorical devices but also of conceptual and judgment elements.” Film is a communication media that is audio visual in nature to convey a message to a group of people who gather in a certain place. (Effendy,1986: 134). Through film, students can describe people, place, things, and activity from areas in film. Students will be able to express and organize their ideas in unity as well as to write the sentences in coherence. The reality how important proficiency in writing descriptive text to student, the teacher should find certain steps that can be used in descriptive text using film story in order to make subject easiest to remember and to apply, hence to motivate the students to learn attentively. One of the best ways to teach descriptive text using film story in EFL Classroom of High School Level of Education. Keywords : Descriptive Text Writing, Film, High School Students
