Abstract

Retensio plasenta merupakan kondisi tidak keluarnya plasenta fetus dengan sendirinya dari tubuh induk lebih dari 12 jam setelah partus. Seekor sapi dilaporkan plasentanya tidak keluar setelah 16 jam setelah partus. Saat dilakukan pemeriksaan ditemukan adanya plasenta seperti jaringan lunak berwarna merah gelap yang menggantung pada bagian vulva. Penanganan retensio plasenta dilakukan dengan cara melepaskan perlekatan ikatan antara kotiledon fetus dan karankula induk secara manual. Penanganan retensio plasenta apabila tidak dilakukan dengan baik akan menyebabkann gangguan reproduksi pada sapi. Terapi dilakukan dengan pemberian antibiotik Colibact bolus secara intrauteri, pemberian antibiotik injek Propen secara intramuskular, dan pemberian Sulpidon secara intramuskular.
