Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of debt ratio and liquidity on profitability, mediated by profit growth. This study uses a quantitative approach. The study population was automotive companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2021-2024. Using a purposive sampling technique, 11 companies met the sampling criteria. Data analysis used Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of the study indicate that the debt ratio, proxied by the debt-to-equity ratio, has a negative but insignificant effect on profitability. The liquidity ratio, proxied by the current ratio, has a negative but significant effect on profitability. Profit growth has a positive but insignificant effect on profitability. The debt ratio has a positive but insignificant effect on profit growth. The liquidity ratio has a positive but insignificant effect on profit growth. Profit growth cannot mediate the effect of the debt and liquidity ratios on profitability.
