Abstract

This research was conducted to study the effectiveness of ethanol extract of turmeric (Curcuma domestica val) on histopathology picture of kidney organ of layer chicken that given avian influenza vaccine (H5N1). A total of 32 chickens in 2 treatment groups were kept for 21 days. 50% turmeric ethanol extracts was given on the 8th day until the 21st day. Avian influenza vaccine was injected on 15th day. The histopathologic examination was performed after chickens necropsed on the 23rd day by making HE-stained preparations. Histopathologic observation parameters include degeneration, necrosis and inflammatory cell infiltration. Data obtained using Kurskal-Wallis test. The statistic analysis showed that the mean of degeneration, necrosis and infiltration of inflammatory cell in renal showed no difference between treatment group and control group (P> 0.05).
