Abstract

Perokok pasif rentan mengalami dislipidemia yang akan meningkatkan risiko penyakit jantung koroner (PJK). Peperomia pellucida dilaporkan memiliki aktivitas anti-hypercholesterolemia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengevaluasi efek pajanan asap rokok dan pemberian ekstrak P. pellucida terhadap parameter metabolisme lipid. Tikus wistar jantan dewasa dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok (n = 7 per kelompok). Kelompok K0 menerima placebo. Kelompok K1 mendapat ekstrak P. pellucida 400 mg/kg berat badan (BB). Kelompok P1 dan P2 diberi pajanan asap rokok dan dilanjutkan pemberian ekstrak P. pellucida 400 mg/kg BB untuk kelompok P2. Metode ekstraksi P. pellucida yang digunakan adalah maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Konsentrasi serum total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), dan low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) diukur menggunakan spectrophotometer. Konsentrasi kolesterol lipoprotein densitas rendah (LDL-C) diestimasi dengan rumus Friedewald. Analisis statistik yang digunakan adalah uji one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) yang dilanjutkan dengan uji post-hoc menggunakan Least significant difference (LSD). Peningkatan signifikan pada konsentrasi serum TC, TG, dan LDL-C, penurunan bermakna pada konsentrasi serum HDL-C dapat diobservasi pada kelompok tikus yang mendapat pajanan asap rokok. Suplementasi ekstrak P. pellucida 400 mg/kg BB mampu memperbaiki parameter biokimia metabolisme lipid pada serum sehingga menurunkan risiko PJK. Sebagai kesimpulan, ekstrak P. pellucida berhasil mengembalikan regulasi metabolisme lemak yang terganggu akibat pajanan asap rokok secara pasif.
