Abstract
Being able to read and understand text well is very important in learning English. However, Junior High School students often find the difficulty to understand English text or sentence because they don’t have any chances to practice to read or feel insecure. One way solve that is the teacher can use Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model. This paper presents how to teach reading using Think Pair Share at Junior High School. Using TPS can make reading English easier and more attractive for them. In the Think Pair Share there are steps to implement TPS when teaching reading at Junior High School. The procedures on how to teaching reading using Think Pair Share are as follow, Think: Students are given a text, question, problem, or task. They are given a specified amount of time to individually consider their thoughts and formulate their own responses. Then Pair: Students are paired up with a classmate, they discuss their individual thoughts and responses with their partner. This allows for the exchange of ideas, clarification of understanding, and the potential for collaborative reasoning. Then Share: They decide to answer together pairs groups, share their combined thoughts and responses with the larger group or the entire class. This can be done through a whole-class discussion, a brief presentation, or another method of sharing, The sharing phase allows students to learn from each other's perspectives and further refine their understanding of the topic. At the last, Think Pair Share can be an alternative for teachers to teach other skills in English.
