ABSTRACT Krisanti, Eunike Gracia. 2025. The use of Speech Act in The Movie Twilight By Stephenie Meyer. Thesis of English Education Department. Faculty of Teaching and Education. Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya University. Advisor : 1. Dr. Ribut Surjowati, M.Pd. 2. Dr. Bana Supeno, M.Hum., M.Pd. In this research, the researcher discussed the usage of Illocutionary Acts in Movie Twilight. The aims of this research were to find out the classification of Illocutionary Acts and to understand the interpretation of Illocutionary acts were used in the movie Twilight. The researcher used qualitative descriptive analysis method to analyze the data. The researcher had applied the theory of speech acts by John Searle that divided illocutionary acts becomes five types, they were declaratives, assertive, expressive, directives, and commissives. After analyzing, the researcher found there are ninety-six data. The illocutionary acts were found in the movie of Twilight has different amount. They were assertive appeared twenty-five times, declaration appeared five times, expressives appeared thirty time, directives appeared twenty-five times, and then commisives appeared twenty-three times. The analysis result also showed the interpretation of each illocutionary acts were used by the Character in the movie Twilight . It showed what someone was uttered having communicative force.
