Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effectiveness of anthelmintic potency of temu ireng (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb.) to Ascaridia galli in vitro. A total of 240 Ascaridia galli samples were taken from the chicken intestine. The design used was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 6 treatments and 4 repetitions. The six treatments were P1 (negative control) NaCl physiologis, P2 (positive control) Piperazine 5%, P3 extracts of ireng 50%, P4 extract temu ireng 75%, P5 temu ireng 50%, P6 juice temu ireng 75%. Each treatment group contained 10 Ascaridia galli worms which were observed every 1 hour for 24 hours. The data obtained were analyzed by Anova and when showed a significant difference, then the analysis was continued with Duncan test with α 0.05. Anova results show sig. value 0.000 (p<0.05) there is a real difference between treatments. Duncan test results showed significant differences between different letter notation "a" (temu ireng 50% with value 2.8750 and juice temu ireng 75% with value 2.9550), "b" (juice temu ireng 75% with value 2.9550 and extract of intersection temu ireng 50% with value 3,0400), "c" (extract temu ireng 75% with value 3.2000 and piperazine 5% with value 3,2400). Temu ireng extract is better when compared with juice temu ireng, the greater concentration the greater effect given. Intake extract of temu ireng 75% can replace Piperazine as an anthelmintic drug. Keywords: Anthelmintic, Piperazine, Temu ireng, Ascaridia galli.
