Abstract
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ANTHELMINTIC POTENCY OF TEMU IRENG (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb.) TO Ascaridia galli IN VITRO Mahani Fikriyatullilah ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effectiveness of anthelmintic potency of temu ireng (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb.) to Ascaridia galli in vitro. A total of 240 Ascaridia galli samples were taken from the chicken intestine. The design used was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 6 treatments and 4 repetitions. The six treatments were P1 (negative control) NaCl physiologis, P2 (positive control) Piperazine 5%, P3 extracts of ireng 50%, P4 extract temu ireng 75%, P5 temu ireng 50%, P6 juice temu ireng 75%. Each treatment group contained 10 Ascaridia galli worms which were observed every 1 hour for 24 hours. The data obtained were analyzed by Anova and when showed a significant difference, then the analysis was continued with Duncan test with α 0.05. Anova results show sig. value 0.000 (p<0.05) there is a real difference between treatments. Duncan test results showed significant differences between different letter notation "a" (temu ireng 50% with value 2.8750 and juice temu ireng 75% with value 2.9550), "b" (juice temu ireng 75% with value 2.9550 and extract of intersection temu ireng 50% with value 3,0400), "c" (extract temu ireng 75% with value 3.2000 and piperazine 5% with value 3,2400). Temu ireng extract is better when compared with juice temu ireng, the greater concentration the greater effect given. Intake extract of temu ireng 75% can replace Piperazine as an anthelmintic drug. Keywords: Anthelmintic, Piperazine, Temu ireng, Ascaridia galli.
