Abstract
The internet is present in our daily lives to search for and share information, interact with other people both positively and negatively, and through the internet we can feel like we have found something and/or lost something. The high number of internet users in the world, including in Indonesia, proves that its presence is real and changes the reality of our lives. How does this system change the life of our society, what are the opportunities and risks for the development of our society, this paper tries to find theoretical answers genealogically. The use of the term information and communication technology and social studies (ICT) is wiser than others. ICT-S studies are concerned with the interaction of new information and communication technologies and society. Two aspects that are interconnected in this study are the social design of ICT and the impact of using ICT on society so that participatory social knowledge can emerge, both related to opportunities and risks for society regarding knowledge and the formation of technology and social systems. A line of critical theory thinking, self-organization and cooperation theory inspires this paper both dialectically philosophically and ideologically so as to present a relevant genealogical picture. The most important thing is that it cannot be avoided that we need to conceptualize society as a social system that organizes itself dialectically in order to understand relatively precisely the constructionist relationship between the internet and society.
