Abstract
Key Words : Writing Skill, Recount Text, Ginger Writer Application English language learning is an important part of the Merdeka Curriculum and in the subject matter at the junior high school level, creating written texts is one of the objectives of learning English. At junior school level there are several texts that must be studied, one of which is recount text. This research aims to find out whether Ginger Writer Application can improve students' writing skills in recount text. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was used in this research. The subjects of this research were students in class VIII.5 of SMP Taman Pelajar Surabaya with a total of 31 students. When the researcher observed the students, the researcher found that the students' writing skills were poor, they had difficulty in writing descriptive texts, such as they did not master grammar, could not find any ideas, and had limited vocabulary. The research findings showed that teaching writing descriptive text using Instagram influences students' writing skills, this is proven by the percentage increase in student test scores from the teacher's previous score was 35.48% and test score from cycle 1 was 54.83% and then from cycle 2 improved to be 85.16%.
