Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effectiveness of giving honey orally to prevent liver damage to mice (Mus muscullus). This type of research is an experimental study. The sample of this research is 28 male mice. Mice were randomly divided into 4 groups with 7 groups each, the treatment group was given no borax and honey control (P0), the treatment group was borax-induced positive control with a dose of 600 mg/kgBB 0.5 ml (P2), treatment group induced by borax-induced dose of 600mg / kgBW and administration of honey as much as 0.5 ml (P3). Mice were given treatment for 14 days later on the 15th day of the mice in necropsies to take the liver organ of the mice, then made histopathologic preparations. The results of data analysis using the Kruskal Wallis test on the liver organ obtained results that were not significantly different (P>0.05). The microscopic results of the histopathological features seen were liver cells experiencing hydropic degeneration, but no cells experienced necrosis and inflammation. The conclusion of this study is the administration of 100% honey and 50% in mice can not increase the protective effect on liver damage of mice induced by borax with a dose of 600mg / kgBB.
