Abstract

ABSTRACT Triwahyuni. 2018. Teaching Speaking Using Story Completion In Narrative Text For Junior High School, Surabaya. Pembimbing: (1) Dra. BektiWirawati M. Pd English is very important in the era of globalization, but actually English is still becomes a foreign language in Indonesia. The students are demanded to be mastered it especially in speaking skill. They don’t use English in daily conversation and it will affect the students about how they should learn English. Sometimes the teachers teach about the theory more than oral practice so that it makes the students passive in the speaking class. Through the use of story completion, the students are driven more active in the class. Therefore this technique is appropriate to be applicated in the speaking class because the students are required to speak actively. Sometimes the students feel afraid to make mistake when they speak in front of the class but through the story completion, the students work in a group so they will feel more confident when they are presenting in front of the class.
