Abstract
Maulana, Azis Indra, 2024 Improving Students Reading Comprehension Using Quizlet In The 7th Grade At SMPN 50 Surabaya Advisor: (1) Dra. Bekti Wirawati, M.Pd dan (2) Dra. Siti Azizah, M.Pd. Keywords: Quizlet, reading comprehension, narrative text The purpose of this study is to determine how well students' reading comprehension of narrative texts may be improved by incorporating Quizlet. The study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design over the course of two cycles and was carried out at SMPN 50 Surabaya. To improve teaching strategies and student outcomes iteratively, each cycle included phases of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Quizlet was used in Cycle 1 to engage students in interactive exercises based on narrative texts such as "The Lion and the Mouse". The exercises aimed to improve understanding through digital games and interactive quizzes. Cycle 2 broadened this method by focusing on "The Midas Touch" and incorporating Quizlet for vocabulary acquisition and comprehension testing. Data collection included reading comprehension tests, observation checklists, and student performance records. Qualitative analysis of observational data revealed increased student engagement and understanding during interactive sessions. Quantitative analysis demonstrated improved comprehension scores over successive cycles, indicating the efficacy of digital tools in enhancing learning outcomes. Findings underscored the benefits of integrating educational technology in English language teaching, facilitating deeper engagement and comprehension among students. Recommendations include sustained integration of digital tools in curriculum design to foster interactive and effective learning environments. Future research could explore broader applications of digital tools across different genres and educational settings to further enhance pedagogical practices and student achievement in language learning.
