Abstract

Activities development of sorghum UWKS 2009 begins in East Java, with a focus on food as a development alternative. The purpose of the research changed the initial conditions leading to a situation where the business of upgrading and upscaling occuring sorghum sorghum networking by establishing and opening up new markets by leveraging information technology, as well as increasing the value added through facilitators UWKS as Sorghum Enterpreneurship Center (SES). Research methods through the stages of diagnosis (identification and defining problems), action planning (consider the alternative action/activities), the implementation of the action (choose the appropriate action), evaluation (study of the impact of activities), and picking lesson (identification of common findings). Data collection: 1) indepth interview against two groups of respondents are: a) the Group of manufacturers: (individual) farmers, farmer groups, and the business group (farmers as processing), Prosesing Group b): Unit Entrepreneurship Sorghum/UES (entrepreneur processed sorghum); 2) observation of the field, and 3) documentation. Data processing: quantitative and qualitative with the validation results. The results of the activity: 1) upscaling and upgrading real change occur in the Group of respondents UES; 2) sorghum information networking on a group of manufacturers to connect 10 counties; 3) campus environment can be a pioneer of a new market of processed sorghum; 4) respondent group UES able to fill market demand; 5) groups of manufacturers need standardization to meet the new market; and 6) added value of sorghum occurs on the UES and sorghum farmers group.
