Abstract
Absorption of labor is currently considered to be not maximal. There are about 37% of the workforce who work in accordance with the education major they are engaged in. This means that as many as 63% of Indonesians work not in accordance with their major. This phenomenon is the reason for conducting independent internal research in a small scope, for students of the Civil Engineering FT UWKS class of 2016. The research method uses psychometric assessment tools ; the Wonderlic Personnel Test (WPT), Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-42) and image test. As a control, several samples were taken for interview. The respondents were 42 students. The test is carried out in the classroom by following all the conditions required. The WPT test results showed 7.1% were ready to become technical staff. The MBTI test results show that 31% of student characters are suiTabel to work in the planning consultant or contracting consultant field. The stress level test shows 88% of respondents are at a normal level, while the 12% of respondents, exceeds the upper limit. This condition was confirmed during the image test and interview process. To respond to these situations and conditions, preventive steps were taken to help students get to know themselves better by special character training. This effort turned out to be very helpful for students who have a tendency to be in the wrong direction to realize why they are more easily stressed and have no interest in studying compared to their fellow students whose characters tend to match their major.
