Abstract

ABSTRACT Cahya, Ayunda Fitrah Nur. 2023. Using Elsa Speak Application to Improve Students’ Speaking Skill of Senior High School Ta’miriyah Surabaya. A thesis submitted to the English Education Department of the Faculty of Language and Science at Wijaya Kusuma University in Surabaya. A Thesis that was directed by Dra. Siti Azizah, S.Pd. M.Pd. and Dr. Ribut Surjowati, S.Pd., M.Pd. The goals of this study were to determine whether or not using the ELSA Speak application as a form of media may help students develop their speaking skills and to provide a description of how the application was used to teach speaking at Ta'miriyah Senior High School in Surabaya. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was carried out as part of this study. CAR consisted of two cycles, each of which included planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of the research were a total of 24 students from the 11th MIPA 2 class. There were 15 female students and 9 male students. The data collection process began after the assessment of the students' level of speaking ability in cycles 1 and 2. According to the findings of this study, speaking ability among students was evaluated much higher during cycles 1 and 2 of the ELSA Speak application than it had been in previous cycles. The percentage score of the students in cycle 1 was 41% (one students who achieved KKM), which did not meet the quality standard vales (KKM). The increase that Cyele 2 achieved on average was 82% (21 students who achieved (KKM)), which was sufficient for the school's standard.
