Abstract
ABSTRAK Mukminin, Amirul. 2022. “Political Communication Strategy in District Heads Election (Pilkada) (A Case Study of Winning Aditya Halindra Faridzky - Riyadi in 2020 Tuban District Heads Election)". Thesis on Master Program of Political Science Study, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Wijaya Kusuma University, Surabaya. The Primary Advisor: Dr. Frederik Fernandez, Drs., M.Pd. The Secondary Advisor: Dr. Darsono, Drs., MSi. Keywords: Communication Strategy, Political Communication, District Heads Election (Pilkada) Tuban District Heads Election (Pilkada) was held on December 9th, 2020, followed by three pairs of candidates (paslon) namely number 01, Khozanah Hidayati-Muhammad Anwar, number 02, Aditya Halindra Faridzky-Riyadi, and number 03, Setiajit-Armaya Mangkunegara. The result was Aditya Halindra Faridzky-Riyadi won the election. The focus of this research is on the elected candidates Aditya Halindra Faridzky-Riyadi due to the political dynamics during the previous two consecutive periods where the Tuban Golkar Party had not been able to win its party candidates/cadres in 2011 and 2015 Pilkada. However, Golkar was finally won in 2020 Pilkada. Therefore, this study discusses the political communication strategy of the Aditya Halindra Faridzky-Riyadi. This research is descriptive research using qualitative approach with a study case method. The data collection is carried out through primary and secondary data. The results of this study showed that Aditya Halindra Faridzky-Riyadi’s Paslon used strategies on each component of political communication thus they could win, including: communicators, political messages, political audiences, and media channels. The steps taken were by compiling the main political message through the program “mbangun deso noto kutho”, then setting a target for winning numbers accompanied by the formation of a winning team up to the polling station level, prioritizing door-to-door or blusukan campaign media and using social media to strengthen the political messages exposure. The form of political communication to increase voter support by Aditya Halindra Faridzky and Riyadi is conducting political campaigns and branding as the successor of the Haeny Relawati Program. Personally, Aditya Halindra Faridzky also carries out political branding with a millennial image, while Riyadi uses the image of a figure from a populist village.
