Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyzing the effectiveness of turmeric powder and tamarind (Curcuma domestica Val - Tamarindus indica L.) in commercial feed to see the function of liver about SGPT and SGOT level. This research was an experimental study with use experiment creature, it was 24 male quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) are divided into 4 group. Each treatment group consisted of 6 male quail. Group (P0) without treatment. Group (P1) with the addition of Turmeric powder and Tamarind as 10%, (P2) with the addition of Turmeric powder and Tamarind as 20%, (P3) with the addition of Turmeric powder and Tamarind as 30%. Feeding was done twice daily for 28 days until the 29th day was done blood taking through the left wing vena brachialis for examination of SGPT and SGOT levels. The results obtained are then analysed using ANOVA method. From result of research known that the everage of SGPT: P0 (8.0000 ± 5.79655), P1 (6.5000 ± 6.25300), P2 (7.0000 ± 5.44059), (7.3333 ± 8.91441). whereas the SGOT level: P0 (446.8333 ± 255.99876), P1 (310.3333 ± 66.03232), P2 (300.6667 ± 83.67238), P3 (292.1667 ± 90.22952). After the analysis showed no significant difference of SGPT and SGOT levels of male quail (P>0,05). The conclusion is the provision of Turmeric powder and Tamarind safe to be given as a additional feed.
